Blue Butterfly
Documentation
Everything you need to capture, manage, and visualize drillhole data.
Get Started
- Overview What Blue Butterfly is, who it's for, and the capabilities it covers.→
- Quickstart End-to-end walkthrough — from sign-up to your first exported CSV in about fifteen minutes.→
- Install as an App Install Blue Butterfly as a Progressive Web App on desktop or mobile for a native-app experience that works offline.→
Set Up Your Project
- Create a Project Sign up, sign in, and create a new project — blank or from a shared template.→
- Drillhole Template Define the collar fields that apply to every drillhole — types, validation, defaults, and template sharing.→
- Data Tables Create domain tables (lithology, assays, alteration, etc.), define columns, set depth markers, and enforce lithology boundaries.→
- Validation Rules Enforce data quality at entry — rule types, severity levels, and how validation appears in the spreadsheet.→
- Formula Columns Auto-calculate column values from other columns in the same row — mathjs expressions, examples, and read-only behaviour.→
Log Drillhole Data
- The Dashboard Find drillholes, switch projects, and reach the tools you use every day.→
- Create a Drillhole Add a new drillhole — collar fields, validation, and how the drillhole template controls the form.→
- Enter Interval Data Log lithology, assays, and other interval data — the spreadsheet, depth columns, dropdowns, formulas, and inline export.→
- Fix Validation Errors Resolve red errors and yellow warnings in the spreadsheet — common cases and how to clear them.→
Import Data
- Import Overview Pick the right import mode, prep your file, map columns, and handle errors and duplicates.→
- Import Drillholes Create new drillholes in bulk from a collar CSV or Excel file.→
- Import Interval Data Bring in lithology, assays, alteration, and other interval data — single-domain (one hole, one table) or bulk-domain (many holes, one table).→
- Import a Workbook Bring in a multi-sheet Excel file in one pass — collar data and interval data, all at once.→
Visualize
Export & Share
- Export Data Export drillhole data to CSV or XLSX — selecting holes, fields, output mode, and file mode.→
- Export Workflows Save export configurations and re-run them in one click — useful for repeat deliverables and incremental data dumps.→
- Backup & Restore Download a complete project backup, restore from one, or export a SQL dump for use outside Blue Butterfly.→
- Collaborators & Roles Invite team members, assign roles, and manage what each collaborator can do.→
